Sunday's seem to come around quicker than they used to, but another day to alive is great in my book😉.
For my self care Sunday, I'm focusing on stretching. Over the past month I have been working a lot. I'm still a full time employee, run this business, a mother and grandmother and to top it all off, I'm working on improving my home, by myself. So one can imagine how this can be tasking on the body. Yesterday I worked for 12 hours with one hour break, I was exhausted and very sore. So today I need to stretch my body out.
Do you know the benefits of stretching? According to Harvard Health Publishing, stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.
Thankfully I feel great this morning. I kept all three of my grandchildren last night and the little ones are in the office with me as I write this email, lol (see picture below). Join me in giving stretching a try today. Remember, only do as your body will allow. Over time it will get easier, just don't give up. Make sure you drink plenty of water to enhance the benefits for your body.
If you're not able to stretch or find it too difficult, you can start by massaging your muscles. After you bathe, apply lotion or oil your body and begin to rub your muscles. Here is a video I found on Youtube that can help.
